On-stage, backstage, in the crowd
Back in 2007, I hitched a ride to Bonnaroo with a Warner Bros street team, led by Los Angeles DJ, Rick Savage. Our job was to promote new albums from the label for such artists as The Smashing Pumpkins, Regina Spektor and The White Stripes. At night, the team and I set up a mobile radio station on the premises where we broadcast WB music from our van. During the day, we sweat with the rest of the concert goers, passing out freebies and taking photos with fans. The perk, however, was backstage access where we, not only met many talented musicians, but also enjoyed on-stage access to one of my favorite bands, The White Stripes.
